Posted March 7, 2010. all the ford manuals, haynes and my personal experience and knowledge know for a fact the it takes 6 litres. should start engine. wait for oil light to go out. turn off engine. pull dipstick out and wipe clean. then dip the oil again and check. Quote.
Volume drained was 3.975 l, while dealer says oil volume to be filled should be 3.85 l, so indeed 125 ml of excessive filling. This should however not be a problem and to my opinion also not result in such an excess on the dipstick. Anyway, there was 3.85 l of oil returned into the engine, and the level on the oil dipstick still shows too high

Posts. 364. Had my 1.8 mk3 for ~2.5 years and the only time the oil was touched was servicing. Between intervals, never had to top up, it was up to 120k on the clock for an 06 plate and over the last year I was doing ~200 miles a week in it. Swapped it for a newer, lower mileage Focus in June, wish I kept the Mondeo.
